History of Marathon Transformer
Marathon Transformer was founded on February 2, 1982, by Larry Stanley, while other family members operated NorthWest Electric, which shares its industry expertise with SouthWest Electric. With 42 years of continuous service and a legacy of excellence, Marathon leverages over 100 years of combined experience in transformer repair, manufacturing, remanufacturing, and sales.
Today, Marathon produces pad-mounted, pole-mounted, substation-style, and auxiliary transformers, utilizing both local production capacity and the innovative Sliding Depth Supply Chain (SDSC) model. This flexible supply chain strategy allows for the high-volume production of thousands of transformers annually.
A New Era of Growth and Innovation
Following the passing of founder Larry Stanley in 2022, Marshall Stanley took over the family business, leading Marathon into a new era. Under his leadership, the company underwent a transformative expansion, embracing the SDSC model to enhance production efficiency and supply chain resilience. To support this scalable, high-capacity business model, Marathon strategically merged with industry experts and global supply chain specialists, leveraging their expertise to meet the surging demand for transformers in Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
Commitment to Rapid Service and Federal Partnerships
Beyond transformer manufacturing, Marathon has remained dedicated to providing on-site service within 24 hours across most U.S. states, ensuring swift resolution of transformer-related issues. In addition to serving power utilities and electric grid operators, Marathon is a trusted partner of the federal government, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where it plays a critical role in securing power for airports and air traffic management systems.
Unprecedented Growth and Market Reach
As of today, Marathon Transformer has achieved an annual production volume of 500 MVA (statistic made only by distribution transformer sales, not include power transformers and service of transformers), supplying pad-mounted, pole-mounted, auxiliary, and substation transformers in various designs. This milestone underscores the company’s commitment to innovation, scalability, and industry leadership.
